  • Chapter 13: Driftwood

    Chapter by LEOWOLF · 30 Jul 2026
  • The Brood God gave Cassandra little time to catch her breath. While she was still wrestling with the authenticity of her parents’ feelings and the meaning of her own birth, the sound and the sensation arrived together. Her body grew sensitive once more and began to tremble. When Elias noticed the change, he hurriedly woke Liora to help reinforce the shield, but it was already too late. Cassandra’s sensations intensified rapidly. Left with no other choice, Elias told Liora to wake Grace at once, and the four of them prepared to relocate.

  • Chapter 13: Driftwood

The lights in the basement central hall remained dim and yellow.

Cassandra sat on the metal chair, hands clasped tightly over her knees, knuckles white from the force. The name Elias had just spoken—“Lin Huiyun”—still hung in the air, like a fine needle slowly piercing the rational barrier she had spent twenty years carefully constructing.

    Mother.

The woman who used to hum nameless songs softly on rainy nights, who would lay a warm palm on her forehead, who had quietly brought her a bowl of ginseng soup the first time her thesis was rejected. The woman whose eyes always held a thin mist of sorrow. That mist, it turned out, was not temperament, but memory. “Am I… just a tool?” she whispered to herself, the sound almost inaudible.

    At that moment—

    The sound came.

Not from the ventilation ducts. Not from a distance. It exploded directly inside her skull.

Scraping. Gnawing. A wet, multi-layered friction, as if thousands of tiny chitinous limbs were crawling slowly through the depths of her ear canals, along her spinal marrow, across the inner walls of her womb. The sound was no longer a whisper. It was a declaration with clear intent.

Then the sensation arrived at the same time.

A warm, viscous, pulsing pressure suddenly bloomed from the deepest part of her lower abdomen. Not the slow induction of before, but a direct, unhesitating possession. Tiny hook-like structures seemed to have re-anchored themselves in her most private tissues, gently tugging, sucking, vibrating. Her nipples hardened instantly beneath the thin cotton nightgown, aching; heat flooded between her thighs.

    Cassandra’s body jerked violently.

    “Ah…”

A soft, unsuppressible moan escaped her throat. She arched forward, both hands clamping the edges of the chair, nails nearly embedding in the metal. Her legs clamped shut against her will, then fell open helplessly. Clear fluid had already begun to slide slowly down her inner thighs.

Elias’s face turned ashen in an instant.

“It broke through!” He surged to his feet and lunged for the …
