Hemisville is a city like many others with it's up and downs, crime and corruption are part of the day and being a private investigator you know that better than most people.
You have resolved little less than a dozen cases and since things seem to have calmed down you're working part time at your uncle's convenience store near your home, because money is always short.
Lately rumours have been going around, things you've heard while working. People transforming into animals, people disappearing for days only to reappear without any memories of what happened to them and lastly some about people acting completely out of character one day.
One day you receive a call from Caesar, your contact in the media, asking you if you're up to investigating the disappearance of a rich girl. Of course, you say yes.

In the vast cargo holds of the UECS Nike and halfway through the journey, the all-women crew of the ship found a bizzare and morbid mystery:
A desiccated male corpse in the ratty remains of a hazard suit, with only two strange vials in its crusty clutches.
Identification of the cadaver via DNA analysis of sample tissue is easy, despite the degradation of the body. A return within the Unified Earth Overwatch's databases brought up a researcher-turned-petty-criminal, Killigan Pierce. A no-name corporation's former employee, his warrant describes the theft of company assets and evasion of arrest. Short, simple, and puzzling that he would wound up dead on the all-female colony ship UECS Nike.
Warp travel interference and the grand distances of the journey meant that communications between the ship and the Sol System is nil until further notice, the special FTL comms satellite only for use at the ship's target exoplant. Still, the women of the Nike's skeleton crew merely incinerates the body; the two vials safely in storage at one of the numerous science labs on the ship.
In any other timeline, the science officer in the lab would have found what is in those vials; and promptly dispose them without haste or hesitation.
This, however, is not that timeline.

How he stowed away on the UECS Nike or how he died is unknown, with only the vials he had on him offering potential answers; or a potential doom. Before his death and arrest warrant, Killigan was an elderly Caucasian man with a bald spot, a scraggly beard, and frail thin body; though he remained a sharp-minded, hawkeyed, and intuituve researcher despite his age and worn body.

The police and judges persistent yet incapable against the entrenched tendrils of your crime organization. The common people continue to live life as it is, yet there is a undercurrent of fear and dread; as the shadows of the criminal underground slink around their walls and corners.
Yet, despite the influence and wealth you have, you are still so very mortal. Progress and time ply their trade against you, the flesh and bone of your own body wither and wrinkle as the years grind past. What was once a premium example of a made man who both embodied physical brutality and cold cunning, reduced to a frail mess of limbs and organs held by by fossilized bones and sundried skin.
You know that only command respect and deference from the mafia by sheer momentum of your past actions and your severe seniority. The moment your faculties slip, that the mushy organic soup and mass that is your brain decides to fuck up, the organization would not - could not - wait until you are off the chair. They wouldn't even let the seat cool before ambitious fools among your subordinates claims, like a childishly criminal rendition of musical chairs with fatal consequences.
The potential fallout - real and imagined - from a scenario would be disastrous. Rival crime families, the blue soldiers of the law, corporate vultures would swoop in and carve up what you had built up through decades of literal sweat, blood, and mountains of corpses. To your embarrassment, you have no heir, no groomed replacement to take up your mantle should you pass. Your Consigliere is competent, loyal, but he is no true leader that could silence rooms of hardened wise men with a rap of a knuckle against lacquered oak.
Still, in your despair, your Consigliere - ever faithful a second-in-command he is - found something occult. Supernatural. Real, despite it all. You know he used your vast repository of resources to find it, but the how and where; your right-hand man is tight lipped.
Its fine. You've worked with him long enough that he deserves to keep a secret or two. What matters more is what he brought back.

There wasn't much beyond the fact that the supposed ritual requires the sacrifice of the possessor's physical body; but what your Consigliere reported on a typed summary of the occult process, the end result would be the possessor taking over the target's body and merging with their consciousness. All while the possessor maintains their self awareness, raking in their target's knowledge and memories and personalities.

Evan was returning home from the store when he noticed a car rushing towards an old lady crossing the street. Evan was always kind and helped people, without thinking he ran towards the pedestrian and pushed the old woman away, but he himself was hit by a sedan at full speed. Evan was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and several broken bones throughout his body. Doctors decided to use an experimental treatment on him – using nanobots. Nanobots fed on the beneficial substances from the host's body, multiplied and quickly increased the regeneration process. A couple of days later, Evan was discharged with the warning that he had undergone an experimental treatment and that he now needed to eat more to support the nanobots. Returning home, Evan remembered that he had not brought the groceries home and had not bought anything on the way. He decided to order pizza, but when he remembered the doctors’ words, he decided to buy 5 pieces at once. Half an hour later, they brought him a pizza and the courier was surprised that one person needed so much pizza. Evan ate them in two days and on the third day he felt very nauseous. At first he thought it was from the pizza, but no pills helped.He wrote to the doctor, who gave him a contact number, about nausea, and he sent a nurse to Evan.A couple of hours later, Evan heard a knock on the door. Opening the door, he saw in front of him a pretty blonde in a beige coat, about 25-30 years old. She smiled sweetly at him, shook his hand, and introduced herself as Alice Black. Evan led her into the living room and poured her some tea. Alice asked how often I experienced nausea, what I'd eaten, and how much. Evan said he ate 5 pizzas in two days and that he felt nauseous around the clock. Alice suggested that suddenly eating such a large amount of food probably caused an overabundance of nanobots.Evan listened to her well, but suddenly he clutched his stomach and vomited black liquid all over Alice. But suddenly the black liquid came to life and entered her mouth and nostrils. She started having convulsions and Evan grabbed his head in pain and began to receive some new memories. After a couple of seconds, Evan realized that he had replicated his personality into Alice's body (he realized this thanks to her mind), he was examining Alice's body, and Alice's body was examining him, it was very strange but at the same time It's interesting, apparently Alice's personality was very smart, because now Evan knew a lot about nanobots and various medical and scientific things.

Identification of the cadaver via DNA analysis of sample tissue is easy, despite the degradation of the body. A return within the Unified Earth Overwatch's databases brought up a researcher-turned-petty-criminal, Killigan Pierce. A no-name corporation's former employee, his warrant describes the theft of company assets and evasion of arrest. Short, simple, and puzzling that he would wound up dead on the all-female colony ship UECS Nike.
Warp travel interference and the grand distances of the journey meant that communications between the ship and the Sol System is nil until further notice, the special FTL comms satellite only for use at the ship's target exoplant. Still, the women of the Nike's skeleton crew merely incinerates the body; the two vials safely in storage at one of the numerous science labs on the ship.
In any other timeline, the science officer in the lab would have found what is in those vials; and promptly dispose them without haste or hesitation.
This, however, is not that timeline.

Nanobots fed on the beneficial substances from the host's body, multiplied and quickly increased the regeneration process. A couple of days later, Evan was discharged with the warning that he had undergone an experimental treatment and that he now needed to eat more to support the nanobots. Returning home, Evan remembered that he had not brought the groceries home and had not bought anything on the way. He decided to order pizza, but when he remembered the doctors’ words, he decided to buy 5 pieces at once. Half an hour later, they brought him a pizza and the courier was surprised that one person needed so much pizza. Evan ate them in two days and on the third day he felt very nauseous. Evan led her into the living room and poured her some tea. Alice asked how often I experienced nausea, what I'd eaten, and how much. Evan said he ate 5 pizzas in two days and that he felt nauseous around the clock. Alice suggested that suddenly eating such a large amount of food probably caused an overabundance of nanobots.Evan listened to her well, but suddenly he clutched his stomach and vomited black liquid all over Alice. But suddenly the black liquid came to life and entered her mouth and nostrils. She started having convulsions and Evan grabbed his head in pain and began to receive some new memories. After a couple of seconds, Evan realized that he had replicated his personality into Alice's body (he realized this thanks to her mind), he was examining Alice's body, and Alice's body was examining him, it was very strange but at the same time It's interesting, apparently Alice's personality was very smart, because now Evan knew a lot about nanobots and various medical and scientific things.

Sarah: Your junior in college, she doesn't really play games much either but seems to enjoy being around you.
Elizabeth: Your senior in college. Extremely good looking/smart and adored by everyone. Wouldn't ever give you the time of day.

The year is 20XX. You're lying on your bed, staring at the sleek black headset in your hands. The latest full-dive VR MMO, "Elysian Realms," just launched worldwide. Blake spent the last week screaming about it over Discord, and even Sarah mentioned she might give it a try. So here you are, about to dive in for the first time.
You slip the headset over your eyes. The cool padding presses against your skin. A soft chime, then: "Welcome, player. Initiating neural sync... complete. Loading Elysian Realms..."
The world dissolves around you. One moment you're in your cramped dorm room, the next you're standing in a vast, ethereal hall made of shimmering white marble. Pillars rise into an infinite, starry sky. The air smells faintly of ozone and wildflowers. Before you, a floating crystalline screen displays your character creation options.
But before you can pick a race or class, a soft voice speaks from everywhere and nowhere.
"You have been chosen, John."
You spin around. A woman stands behind you—no, not a woman. She's too perfect, too luminous. Her hair flows like liquid silver, her eyes are pools of molten gold, and she wears robes that seem woven from moonlight.
"I am the Architect," she says, smiling. "You possess a rare affinity. A hidden class. One of only a handful in the entire game. Will you accept it?"

A being that can inhabit, control, and manipulate other creatures—players, monsters, NPCs alike. Your body is merely a vessel; your true power lies in borrowing others'.
Choose your specialization:
1. Parasite – A slug-like form that burrows into orifices to take control. Can lay eggs in corpses and continue using them. Weak to fire and physical damage.
2. Phantom – An incorporeal ghost that possesses through spiritual means. Excels at hidden attacks. Weak to magic and holy damage.
3. Jellyfish – A small, tentacled form that hides under clothing and controls from within. Weak to physical damage.
4. Artifact – A magical necklace that can transform into different accessories. Designed for espionage and disguise. Weak to magical attacks.
5. Mimic – A mimic chest that can eat and transform into any creature. Weak to fire and ice magic.
The Architect tilts her head, her golden eyes glimmering. "Choose wisely. Your path will define the stories you weave... and the bodies you wear."
