Version 5.0.0
16 Dec 2025
Some major (and controversial?) changes today (v5.0.0)
- AI Illustrations for Chats & Adventures! I’ve included some nice got some nice features and a few drawbacks:
- The ability to add illustrations to any segment has been added to all paid plans, with caps of 3 per day for Basic, 15 per day for Plus, and 150 per day for Patron.
- Hopefully I’ll be able to increase these caps in the future, but high quality image generation is extremely expensive -- a subscriber hitting the limit every day would cost Outfox much more than the price of each subscription plan. I may need to adjust the caps downwards depending on usage as well.
- Generation is also slow -- expect about 1-2 minutes per image. You can continue to generate more text while the images generate in the background.
- The AI will automatically pick and illustrate a moment from the attached segment. You can also prompt it before generating if you would prefer more control.
- Characters and settings will (attempt to) be consistent across all of the canon illustrations. If you want to explore different character designs, you can turn this setting off with the ‘Match canon’ checkbox.
- By default, the illustrations will be in an anime style. You can easily prompt for other styles if you prefer.
- Illustrations will not be NSFW. If a good NSFW image model comes out in the future, we will probably move across to using it, but there’s nothing good out there right now. We don’t want generic pictures anyway, high quality, tasteful content is what Outfox aims for.
- Annual subscriptions! For a 25% discount (quite significant!) you can now subscribe to an annual plan of any tier.
- I have also tidied up the subscription UI significantly, showing when changes to your subscription will be applied, how much you are being charged, and what other tiers provide.
- Clicking away and then coming back on mobile should work a bit better now, refreshing to the latest generated content when you return.
- Some improvements were made to the email system.
- Display information about each subscription tier even when you have an existing subscription tier. Previously this information was annoyingly hidden.
