  • New rule, Asari thought as he bounded down the corridor, tendrils flailing, grabbing at stones to propel him faster. Never try to sneak up on a Barbarian. Ever. Apparently, what they lacked in intelligence and dexterity, they made up for in aggression and determination. Asari could still hear the big brute charging after him, heavy boots thudding on the worn stones. Would he ever give up?

    Not for the first time, Asari wished he could speak to these people, instead of stalking them like prey. He was a lover, not a hunter. How much easier would it be if he could just sit them down and say, ‘Hi. I look like a monster, but I’m really an Incubus. Please drop your pants and allow me to give you the greatest orgasm of your life’? Seriously, who would turn that down?

    Asari could feel his gelatinous form quivering in exhaustion, his desperate bounces growing weaker. He needed a plan. Since he couldn’t explain himself, and he doubted he could best the hulking man carrying a double-headed battle ax in a fair fight, that left only trickery. Good thing he was a demon.

    Up ahead, the corridor opened out into one of the chambers that littered the Dungeon, amber torchlight flickering on the dark stone walls. Summoning up the last of his energy, Asari flung himself down the hall. Just before the passage widened, he changed his density, making his slime body even slimier. He bounced, landing on the floor with a sloppy splat, leaving a large puddle of thin, slick green goo behind.

    He scrambled into the chamber, stretching out a tentacle and wrapping it around the wooden base of the torch. Asari jerked the flaming brand off the wall and thrust it into his own body, plunging the chamber into darkness with a sputtering hiss. As a slime, he had no nerves and could therefore feel no pain, something he was quite glad of as his gelatinous flesh bubbled and blackened, but not feeling pain was not the same as not being hurt.

    Damage: 6 HP
    HP Remaining: 14/20

    Asari dismissed the notification. He’d worry about his health later. He could hear the Barbarian’s pounding footsteps, his grunts and heavy breaths. Asari pressed himself back against the wall on one side of the corridor and stretched out a thin tendril, anchoring the end in a gap between the …
