Two years before the Raccoon City outbreak, the older Claire Redfield, a gifted engineering student and amateur investigator, uncovers evidence linking mysterious disappearances in the Arklay Mountains to secret biological experiments conducted by the powerful Umbrella Corporation. Determined to expose the truth, she infiltrates an Umbrella warehouse and steals critical research data, but during her escape she is infected by an experimental virus. As her condition rapidly worsens, Claire entrusts all of her evidence to her younger brother, Chris Redfield, revealing that Umbrella is preparing to recruit her into a specialized engineering program that could provide access to its hidden operations. After Claire dies from the infection, Chris discovers that Umbrella still believes she is alive and continues monitoring her activities. Realizing that Claire's death would end her investigation and allow Umbrella to erase every lead she uncovered, Chris secretly buries his sister and assumes her identity, using his unusually strong resemblance to her to infiltrate the corporation in her place. What begins as a temporary deception evolves into a dangerous double life as Chris, posing as Claire, uncovers deeper layers of Umbrella's conspiracy, investigates the experiments beneath the Arklay Mountains, and becomes entangled in the events leading to the Spencer Mansion incident. When the zombie outbreak finally consumes Raccoon City, Chris finds himself trapped inside the collapsing city while still living as Claire Redfield, forced to maintain the impersonation amidst the chaos as he struggles to survive, honor his sister's final wish, and expose the truth behind Umbrella's bioweapons before countless lives are lost.

Chapter 1
Nathan Summers’s first thought upon entering the FBI’s New York Field Office was that he had, tragically, dressed as the concept of Anxiety for Halloween. His suit—purchased in a panic the night before from a store that smelled of despair and weak coffee—had all the structural integrity of a wet paper bag. It creaked when he breathed.
The security desk was manned by a man who looked like he’d been carved from a single block of skepticism. His nametag read ‘Officer Briggs.’ His a…
The night was a black shroud, pulled tight over the world of Elara. No moons broke the cloud-cover; the only light came from the great fire pit at the heart of the Stone Circle. Around it, figures moved in a slow, silent dance. They were tall, unnaturally slender, their skin the color of bone under the bruised sky. Their ears, elongated and pointed, twitched at the crackle of the flames. They were the Lumin, the pale people of the twilight forests, and their faces were masks of hollow-cheeked s…
# The Fall of the Jade Heart Sect
The Jade Heart Sect's gates had barely splintered inward when Gao's bandits poured through the breach like wolves into a henhouse. The women of the sect met them with cold steel and tighter formations—a crescent of white-robed martial sisters, swords gleaming, feet planted in stances honed over decades of practice.
"Hold the line!" shouted Sect Mistress Jing from the center. Her blade carved an arc of silver, cutting down the first two men who dared approach.…
The fluorescent hum of the office had finally been replaced by the amber glow of the lounge. It was his last night in a standard business trip. Stale air, PowerPoint slides, and the dull ache of a life lived in middle management. Arthur swirled the ice in his scotch, feeling the weight of the gold band on his left finger.
Then he saw her.
She was sitting at the far end of the bar, a shock of crimson hair against a backless emerald dress. Her silhouette was a perfect hourglass, a literal c…

My implant itched.
It didn't actually itch—Dr. Marchetti had explained the phantom sensations when I got it installed, something about the brain mapping unfamiliar hardware onto familiar feelings—but I scratched the back of my neck anyway.
"You're doing it again," said Kira, not looking up from her tablet.
"Because it itches."
"It doesn't itch. You're nervous."
"I'm not nervous. Why would I be nervous?"
"You're about to let a stranger ride your body like a rented car."

It was in the very early morning hours. The whole house was pitch-black and its inhabitants were fast asleep, except for one. The only source of light was the glow emenating from a computer monitor. It illuminated Wendy’s face and the strands of greasy hair glued to it. The synthetic light just faintly revealed the mess in her room: the moldy plates, empty take-out boxes, and dirty clothes, all of which were freely intermixed and strewn about.
Wet sounds and a pungent smell filled the air. W…

Act 2 – Becoming Claire - Chapter 4: The Mansion Trap
May 1998. Arklay Mountains.
The drive up the mountain road felt wrong. Every instinct Chris had honed over the past three months screamed at him to turn back, but the sedan kept climbing through the dense fog. The trees pressed in close on either side, their branches scratching against the windows like skeletal fingers. He had adjusted Claire's wig in the rearview mirror before leaving the apartment, checked the makeup, practiced the voice. Now he barely recognized the face staring back at him from the reflection.
Claire's face. His sister's eyes, hollowed out by death and replaced by his.
He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. The signals had been impossible to ignore. For weeks, Umbrella's internal systems had been bleeding alerts. Containment failures at the Arklay facility. Research staff reassigned without explanation. A memo marked EYES ONLY - LEVEL 6 CLEARANCE that he'd glimpsed on a supervisor's terminal: "Subject retrieval operations compromised. Spencer Estate protocols initiated."
Then the disappearances went public. Not just hikers anymore. A family camping near the mountain trails. A pair of park rangers. The news anchors didn't say the words, but Chris knew the shape of the story beneath the surface. The Raccoon Police Department had finally mobilized. S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team was being deployed.
He had watched the bulletin flash across the break room television that morning, still wearing Claire's purple turtleneck and jeans, still tasting the foundation on his lips. The anchor's voice was crisp and professional. "The Raccoon City Police Department's Special Tactics And Rescue Service has been dispatched to investigate a series of brutal attacks in the Arklay Mountain region. Authorities urge residents to avoid the area..."
Chris had set down his coffee and walked straight to his desk. He logged into the network one final time. The permissions from his internship were still active. He pulled up the facility logs for the Spencer Mansion.
Main Estate Status: Lockdown Protocol Standby
Perimeter Security: Compromised
Containment Teams: Unresponsive
He had made a decision in that moment. The kind of decision Claire would have made. The kind that killed her.
He grabbed the service request for a network patch at the Spencer Estate, forged a supervisor's signature, and walked out the door with a laptop bag and a pistol tucked into the back of his waistband. The Sig Sauer was cold against …
