  • Lucky's face burned hotter than the Alolan sun as she finally released her own breasts, realizing she'd been groping herself in front of him. Her claws left faint indentations in the soft blue fur of her chest, and she quickly crossed her arms, trying to look angry instead of mortified.

    "You're so damn weird, you know that?" she snapped, her tail lashing behind her. "Making me so flustered I don't know what I'm doing! Just—just turn on the AC already!"

    Anthony didn't move. He leaned against the doorframe, arms folded, a lazy grin spreading across his face. "I don't know, Lucky. You came all the way here, sweating and panting, just to see me? And now you're touching yourself in my doorway? Sounds like you're the weird one."

    "Shut up!" She stomped a paw on his tile floor, but the sound was muffled by her soft pads. "I came here because it's a million degrees outside and you're the only idiot on the island with central cooling! Not because I—" Her voice caught as she realized what she was about to say.

    "Because you what?" Anthony pushed off the frame and took a step closer. He was taller than her, though not by much, and she had to tilt her head up to meet his eyes. That close, she could smell his sweat—slightly salty, warm, undeniably human. Her nose twitched.

    "Because I nothing," she growled, but her ears flattened against her head. "Look, are you going to turn it on or not? I'm dying."

    Anthony's grin softened into something more genuine. He reached out and brushed a strand of damp fur from her forehead. Lucky flinched but didn't pull away. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

    "You know," he said quietly, "you could just admit you like spending time with me. I won't tell anyone."

    "I don't—" She stopped. Swallowed. Her gaze dropped to his chest. "I mean… maybe it's not the worst way to spend an afternoon. When it's too hot to do anything else."

    "That's all I'm asking for." He turned and walked toward the thermostat, his shorts hanging low on his hips. Lucky's eyes followed him automatically, tracing the line of his back, the way his shoulders moved. She bit her lip.

    The AC clicked on with a low hum, and cool air began to seep from the vents. Lucky sighed in relief, letting her arms fall …
