After getting cut-off from his moonshine, the Harbinger is forced to look for a Shell. By mere chance, he had inhabited the body of one of Merrick's fallen companion, Proxima the Broodseeker.

“Is it true, brev?”
One does not simply start small talk with a faceless creature like the Harbinger, but Merrick has his ways. He tossed a bottle. The Harbinger nearly missed, tumbling to and fro from its human-like digits.
It didn't answer his question, instead the creature pulled out a flower. It was a Lavender. Odd little thing somehow looked fresh with dew. How long had it had it?
“Not what I’m asking for, brev. I don't buy flowers.”
Again, it shook the lively flower. How did it get it anyway? And why, Merrick wondered, would it point at itself after shaking the Lavender. Was the faceless creature giving itself a name? Or was that always its name.
"Ah, that's your name? Lavender?"
It nodded. Giddy wasn't the right word to describe a creature like this but neither was Lavender an appropriate name for a being meant to 'reclaim' the Mether's ovum. Harbinger sounded way better, Merrick decided.
"Alright, Lavender. Have a swig, I'll put it on your tab."
A bottle of moonshine did the trick surprisingly well to loosen the lips of the offspring of the Undermether. It really didn't matter that it had no mouth, the delectable alcohol disappeared altogether. There it was, the chosen one, sitting on the table taking a huge swig and savoring the moment. Eventually it faced the merchant.

“That you can revive the dead? The special ones at least…”
Now Merrick was a traveling merchant at one point. He had his fair share of encounters with eccentrics. This one may have been higher on the hierarchy of odd but the Harbinger's story was interesting enough for him. A foundling born into a village obsessed with flower. He had spent most of his years lounging about and enjoying the world, whatever that didn't gobble you up at least. And as of recent, that list was getting smaller by the months.
Lavender shook his head. He had no mouth but he was mindful of that. Playing with his hands to form shapes and objects had to do. Merrick got the gist …

A grafted blade and a bouncy rear? in ProximAss - A Mortal Shell 2 Story
Merrick's plans changes after Lavender returned with Proxima's body. Originally, he meant to sell the son of the Mether maps of lost rare weapons but now he handed locations (or rumors) of Proxima's weapon. He remembers the woman's goal of hunting down a creature known as the Hexapod. He now has to convince the Harbinger to do the same in her stead. Unfortunately for him, the Harbinger takes things slow and it doesn't help that he's developed a hobby of 'having' his way with the Broodseeker. After all, Merrick realized, they were one and the same thanks to fate.
