  • After searching for what felt like hours, Asari slumped against the Dungeon wall in defeat. Maybe it was nighttime on the surface and all the Delvers were asleep. Or perhaps it was a holiday and the Dungeon was closed. Whatever the case, he couldn’t find a single person. Come to think of it, he hadn’t encountered another monster, either. Were they all in another part of the Dungeon, and nobody bothered to tell him?

    Before starting his search anew, Asari took a few minutes to get to know his gelatinous body a little better. He flattened himself out into a thin sheet, spreading across half the chamber. He could lie in wait and when someone walked across him, wrap around them before they could react. A little too passive, for his taste.

    He slithered up the wall, oozing into the cracks between stones to get a grip. It took a bit of effort, but he was even able to work his way across the ceiling. He could hide above a doorways and drop down onto unsuspecting delvers, but again, he wanted to be more proactive.

    Asari practiced forming tentacles, stretching them out long and thin like ropes, or increasing his density, making them strong as bands of iron. He discovered that if he concentrated, he could change the texture of his surface, forming ridges or bumps. That could be useful.

    Mentally exhausted, he relaxed his form, puddling against the wall. He wanted to take a nap, but since he didn’t actually have eyes, it was quite difficult to close them. Besides, his infernal hunger was stirring, a hollow ache gnawing on his spirit. If he was in a body of his own, one with nerves and the ability to feel pain, his hunger would become excruciating in time, but he wasn’t sure what would happen if he failed to feed it in his current situation, and he wasn’t keen to find out.

    Oozing through the passages, he reached a junction and stopped, his whole body quivering. There was something in the air, like a lingering scent, but it wasn’t a smell. It was energy, the dark, prickly feeling of repressed desire. How he knew that, he wasn’t sure. Perhaps it just came with being an Incubus. He wished he could remember.
