  • # Arc 3 – The Spencer Mansion Incident - Chapter 2: What Claire Found

The basement corridor stank of rust and decay. Chris moved through the dim light, keeping his back to the wall, pistol held low. Every shadow seemed to breathe. Behind him, he heard footsteps—Jill's boots on the stone floor, the click of her own weapon being checked.

"We need to find the lab," Chris said, keeping his voice low. "The terminal I accessed mentioned an underground facility. That's where the real evidence is."

Jill nodded, her eyes scanning the hallway. "Wesker locked us in here for a reason. Whatever's down there, he wanted us to see it. Or be killed by it."

They found the staircase behind a hidden panel in what looked like a servant's pantry. The steps spiraled downward, the air growing colder and thicker with each landing. Fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, casting everything in a sickly green hue.

The underground laboratory spread out before them like something out of a nightmare. Rows of computer terminals lined the walls, their screens flickering with data streams. Glass containment chambers, many of them shattered, lined the center of the room. Dried blood stained the floors. The stench of chemicals and rot was overwhelming.

Chris moved to the nearest terminal. His fingers flew across the keyboard, bypassing basic security protocols. Files scrolled past—experiment logs, subject histories, viral strain data. And then he saw it.

    Subject 071 – Exposure Incident – Warehouse 7

    His breath caught. He clicked.

Subject 071: Female, early 20s. Identity: Redfield, Claire. Occupation: Engineering student, Raccoon City University. Cause of exposure: Unauthorized entry, warehouse breach, physical contact with active viral agent (strain T-002) via broken containment vessel. Infection vector: Open wound on forearm. Progression: Rapid. Phase 1 onset within 24 hours. Phase 2–3 acceleration noted. Subject expired Day 7 post-exposure.

Notes: Subject showed remarkable resistance to early transformation. T-002 strain designed for aggressive mutation in test subjects (see Project Tyrant files). Subject Redfield's immune response delayed transformation by approximately 36 hours. Data recorded for further study.

Current status: Alive. Body disposition: Unknown.

Chris stared at the screen. T-002. That was the strain. The one that had killed his sister. The one that was supposed to turn her into one of those things. She had fought it, held on for seven days, given him enough time to make a promise.

His hands trembled. He closed his …
